A Little Gift

today I got to shower a great friend with love and happiness:) it was her bridal shower and naturally my mind went crafty… What could I make her… So I decided double layouts, and a date memory box were perfect!

After days of layers, hours of drying and loads of medium I designed two fab layouts featuring two of my fav pics of the beautiful couple!!

I started by find out the brides fav colors; blue, pink and grey. With that said I created two backgrounds, one with blues and one with pinks! Next was a thick layer of stencilled coarse moulding paste.  Then I added a touch of grey to them both to enhance the paste.

I laid the pic where I wanted to end up being and sketched around it with a stabilo pencil, then sprayed it with water, I love how the color bleeds when wet.

For the blue layout I layered flowers, chipboard pieces and embellishments before adhering the photo. Dry brush white gesso onto the embellishments and apply more blues and greys. Once dry, use pop dots to adhere to photo onto layout on top of the flowered pieces.

For the pink layout I adhered the photo down then adhered flowers, chipboard and embellishments. Then I applied white gesso to the embellishments and applied more pink and grey tones to them.

On both layouts I covered the photos and splattered around the photo keeping the splatters tight and not over the entire layout! This helped to tie it all together!!

here is a pic of how the full three projects look together!!!

Here is a look at the full pink project with a few close ups!

And now the Blue project:)

And a pic of the Date Memory box.

thank you so much for visiting and i hope you enjoyed!

Having a bloomin good time with ‘Lacie’

you know when you have your FAVORITE things, crafty or not, that are your go-to’s. You will always ready for them first out of habit or favorism!!! I do that with my supplies, I pick favorited and tend to always go for them and neglect the rest no matter how amazing they are! Unfortunately Lacie fell into that neglected pile…. So as I rumaged through my goodies when I started planning this project I pulled Lacie out and decided she needed to get inky!!

So before I start I challenge you to dig through and past your favs and use some long, lost fabulously forgotten about items!!! Do it!!!! You could find a new favorite!!

Today I am doing a drippy, layery, textured piece using Lacie! She is fun and fierce and tattooed!!!! Woohoo edgy girl:) I will show you a few sneak peek of what you will find when you head over to Jamie Dougherty’s blog for the full tutorial!!

‘Find Balance’-March GDT project for Limor Webber Designs

Hey everyone! I am beyond excited to bring you my first post as a Guest Designer for Limor Webber Designs! Today I am making a layered, texture filled layout using some of the brand new stamps Limor designed with IndigoBlu! Here’s a few peeks at what you’ll see when you head over to the blog for a step-by-step on my beautifully layered layout, as well as the full supply list!!

IMG_0804  Most of my supplies are from Limor Webber Design’s online store, so when you’re done checking out all the beautiful projects, make sure to browse the store for some much deserved goodies! Your husband called and he said it was ok;)

So I’m not sure why or how it took me so long to discover and truly enjoy sketches. For anyone who isn’t sure what a sketch is in the crafting world, it’s a ‘template’ for a design…. For example it’s like a map to follow to creat a projects, it’s there to inspire you…. Wether it’s a color pallet or a layout with specific elements, it’s a guide to inspire… The great thing about a sketch is that it can be take anyway you want! Everyone’s interpretation of what the sketch can look like will be different and that’s the beauty of it!
So here was my original inspirations…

I loved this sketch from Sketchabilities. Mixed media, layered layout mind went to work… First off,for some reason my mind kept seeing the sketch rotates clockwise, so with the composition decided I went to work adding layers and layers of beautiful texture:) and this what I came up with.

Sketchabilities DT:)

I have had a very lucky year so far:) This year, I have decided, will be a great year for me… And to add to the awesomeness,

IMG_1715I have been accepted onto the Sketchabilities Design Team:) I saw the call go out and thought to myself ‘why not you? You love layouts and layers… Go for it…’ And here I am announcing my place on the team:)

I just wanted to share my entries into the call. 🙂 there had to be three layouts, one of which had to be based off of a previous sketch…

My boys<3

Here’s a little layout dedicated to the men in my home:) I have my little man/fur baby and my big man/fiance:)
I quite enjoyed creating this piece and this my first time using 7 dots paper. And let my tell you I’m now addicted:) the paper itself is quite thick which is ideal for my as I like to use a lot of layers and sprays, so the paper holds up quite well. So with this as a base and a few layers of die cut pieces, stamps, stencils and a few paper strips this little baby was complete:)

I created this with a mixed media design in mind! And using some of my fav products this was the outcome… I hope you enjoy. First up is a full view…

And a few close ups…

All of my supplies for this project were purchased at my FAV online store. I have to give props this this lady… Limor Webber runs this shop from her home and runs it well. If she doesn’t have something she will get it… Her stock is vast and is always up to date and always ships quickly!!! Love this store… And let’s be real, I don’t have to leave my house or change out of my pj’s:)

Love for the gelli!!

My gelli plate is one of my fav layering tools for backgrounds and for tying together a project. With a gelli plate you can create layer after layer using different colors and techniques for each coat!!

This project was one of my entries for the Limor Webber Designs design team. It was one of my favourites. The colors are strong and bold but don’t overtake the photo:)

Using scrap paper, a favourite photo, select acrylic paints and my trusty friend the gelli plate I have created this fab background in my art journal!! As you can see I further embellished with a few chipboard embellies (from Prima Marketing and Pink Paislee) and flowers to create some 3D layers! And to tie it all together a few background stamps and some IZINKS inks and BAM it’s all done!!!

Here is a full view of one of my fav gelli plate project….

And a couple close ups….

Thank you so much for checking it out!! Stay tuned for more projects and a few sneak peeks here and there!!
